Summer Ladder Cup

The Summer Ladder Cup was in full attendance. After 40 bouts and many duels a new name made it on plinth of the famous trophy "Martin Kohler".

A good performance by Andrew Freedman of Level 1, guaranteed him a 3rd place. Whilst our only junior fencer was the runner up and serious contender for the title.

Musketeers Training Camp

Four groups of musketeers ascended to the New Forest Camp location at early morning. Each group on the day programmed for them. Group 1 being the 1st times who spent one night at the camp. Group 4 is the highest and they spend 7 nights. A hard week of training a mentoring but a great atmosphere of training, Hardworking and total teamwork brought about so much improvement for participents.

Academy Musketeers Team

London League
2 Silver and a place in the finals

After three rounds, fencing the best of London, Academy Musketeers team were seeded second in the League thus qualifing to the finals.

Andrea Varotsis and Rachel Kwok took silver medals in the individual results in the men's and the women's catergories respectively. The Finals will be on Sunday 10th October 2004.

Blades Club
Summer picnic

The weather held well for the fencer's annual summer picnic and barbeque. Many outdoor games were amongst the fun activities, or just simply lay in the sun.

Out of London pollution and congestion at the superb location of wendover woods, all had a happy afternoon from different levels of the blades club.

U10 Academy Cup
Gold, Silver, Bronze

The well attended event took place at the new venue of the Capital City Academy. Eight fencers from The Musketeers Club took part delivering an all Academy Musketeers finals.

Hussain Sadiq dominated the top of the seeding all day without losing a match until he reached the semifinals against team mate Oliver Smithard. Oliver took the upper hand and went on to beat another team mate Oliver kelly in one sided nevertheless an exciting match.

Level 2: Realle Francis won this event for the second time running, now she has completed her level 2 requirements from competition results. Runner up for the first time was Fred Melnycuk.

Level 1: William Saunders won the event in his category after clashing in the finals with William Robertson from Eaton Sq. school. For both this was their fist competition.

Winter Ladder Cup

Maria Antoniou wins the Ladder Cup for the first time. At the Academy Awards Dinner last year she was nominated for best improving fencer. That proved to be a good nomination.

At the end of last year she moved to Level 2 and already moved up a handicap in level 2.

Blades Club - Pool Party

A promise of a good evening of entertainment. Members of the Blades Club from different levels met over some food and balls.

An evening of friendly competition ensued with many participants showing some skill on the baize. The results of the evening are yet to be remembered.

Andrea Varotsis graduates to Level 8 of the Musketeers Club. This is the last level in the musketeers club programme. Finishing this level, will allow him to start looking for his place at international fencing. >

The Team in Paris Club

Junior Training Camp Paris

Academy Junior team went on a cross training with french clubs in paris in one week of hard training. Some 5 hours of training a day with a bit of spare time for shopping and sight seeing.

Two more week long training camps are planned for this year.

The Fencing Team

University Of Westminster Ball

At the Annual Ball of the University of westminster Athletics Union, the Fencing team were well represented. The Academy runs the fencing programme at the university club. Fencing Master Aladdin Sadiq was present who represent the team thanked the Athletics Union president on his support and for masterminding the event.

The team is tipped to pick up some of the medals next year.

Aladdin Sadiq

Mersyside Open - Zorro Award points

Aladdin Sadiq collected a whopper of 30 points towards The Academy's annual "Zorro Award". He did that by winning 6 matches with a 5-0.

In the final results he came 9th. Michael Jacobi produced the second best result for the club coming 28th.

Musketeers Club - New Year's Dinner

As tradition goes, the Fencing Master takes his young Musketeers of levels 1-4 to a full afternoon of fun activity followed by dinner.

This year it was bowling and games then they arrived for dinner. That was some dinner, where food became part of the entertainment. Ice cream was the winner at the end.
