The Finals
Almost no results changed after the final knockouts. All teams retained their original seedings from the rounds. Having said that two metalic pists saw very exciting actions. In the novice league, Novice Blades clashed with Paul Flyers with Paul flyers having the upper hand. Joel Cooper closed the gap to six hits down in the third match but Paul Flyers pulled ahead again. When Joel came against Basil Jennings he was dangerously getting lots of hits but time was against him. Narcissa Ramich of Novice Blades put up a good fight against Amy Hammond but not enough. The final match was a walk over as Novice blades had by mistake put their most novice fencer last.

But the finals of the intermediate was by no means a walk over. Paul intermediate were trailing 28-35 with two matches to go. Young Peter ?? fought back taking 10 hits of Graham ?? from ULU team bringing the score to 38-40. Patrick Dempsey had to score seven hits to Max ?? who only needed five. But Patrick soon found himself 43-44 down. Somehow he managed to find a stophit to equalise, then it was all down to the last hit. Max attacked deep to chest. The point bounced off but Patrick's couterattack was immidiately there to bring his team an unexpected victory.

The semifinal of the intermediate was a rolacoster. The young Academy Cadets were against the Ulu strong team. after the second match they were trailing by 1 hit 8-9. three matches later Amir Choaie of Academy Cadets found himself seven hits down when he squared up to face Graham ?? of ULU team. He put up a feirce fight to claim nine hit but only conceding three. This put the Academy Cadets only two hits down and back in the game. But Amir's uphill struggle was to repeat. This time it was the last match of the team and he takes over with 13 hits down. Surely this can't be done. He lost the first two hits, but then he managed to find his composure. He outstretched the Max ?? of Ulu and his long reach claiming his first three hits. Then he went on to attack but missed and the counter attack brought him two hits away from deffeat. Somehow he fought on with more energy and pushed Max back scoring three compond attacks one of which he flicked to flank. Max timed another stophit well to bring his team one hit away from victory. Amir executed a ripost to shoulder bringing the score 35-44. There was less than 3o seconds left. Max was very strong for the 15 year old. A simultanious attack failed to show a light foor Amir but Max had his light on to take his team to the finals.
